What To Wear: 7 Outfit Tips for Senior Guys

Graduating high school is a pivotal time for senior guys that deserves to be documented and commemorated. Senior guys can sometimes shy away from celebrating these monumental moments in life, but taking senior high school pictures is a great way to memorialize this time in your life. And there’s no need to stress over what to wear because, with these seven simple tips, you’re guaranteed to look amazing and have pictures that you’ll enjoy for years to come.

Tip #1: Layer Up

Layers add dimension to any outfit for senior guys and can escalate anything from simple to snazzy. Don’t overthink this. By simply adding a jacket or sweater, you instantly make an outfit more appealing to the eye. Wearing a collared shirt or a vest is another way to add complexity to your outfit. Adding layers allows you to liven up the look and make the entire outfit more interesting.

Tip #2: Avoid Graphics, Logos, and Busy Prints

You should be the main attraction in your senior pictures, and busy prints and graphics will steal the attention away from you. Choose simple patterns or solid colors instead of overpowering prints. Choosing an outfit as a senior guy should reflect your personality and complements your features without distracting from the overall look.

Tip #3: Add a Pop of Color

Color will add interest to the photo, and even just a splash of color will instantly brighten up an outfit for senior guys like you. Choose a fun color for one of your layers that you feel confident in and that will highlight your personality.

Tip #4: Choose Items That Fit Well

Outfits for senior guys tend to be looser, but this is not the time to wear your favorite baggy jeans. Be comfortable and wear something that reflects your personality, but you will look your best if your pants fit well and you wear a shirt that accentuates your features. Try everything on before the day of your photo shoot to ensure that it looks great on you and isn’t too big or too small.

Tip #5: Add Variety

Bring several combinations of pants, shirts, and shoes so that you will have a variety of looks to incorporate into your photography session. Aim for several different looks. For example, choose a casual look, a formal look, and one that highlights your personality. You can’t go wrong with a formal look because it is timeless and will be an impressive photo that you can add to applications or professional profiles. Bringing along your football jersey or a t-shirt to the college you’ll be attending is a fun way to add personality to your high school senior pictures. Choose different colors and styles, so you don’t end up with three blue outfits for all your pictures.

Tip #6: Iron Your Outfit

Wrinkles will show up in your pictures, so make sure that your clothes are ironed and wrinkle-free before you arrive for your photography session. Bring your clothes on a hanger if necessary to ensure that they will be wrinkle-free. You want your clothes to be clean and ready to wear. Any brand-new clothes should be unfolded and ironed properly ahead of time. Wrinkles cannot be edited out of photos. During our shoot, it’s best to bring wrinkle release spray, like this one. It’s nice to carry it on-the-go and is always nice to have in emergency situations.

Tip #7: Bring Fun Accessories

A great way to make your senior photos unique and reflect your personality is by adding some fun accessories. You want to be the focus of your photos, so don’t choose anything that would take the spotlight off of you. But choosing a fun tie, a watch, bracelets, rings, necklaces, sunglasses, or different pairs of shoes can add a lot of interest to your images. Most importantly, you want to let your personality shine.
